Farms Supply Organic Cheddar Cheese to Waitrose
16th May 2008
Denhay Farms launched organically produced
cheddar cheese into all Waitrose stores this week. This
can be found under the Waitrose Own Label Organic West
Country Farmhouse Cheddar label. The milk used to make
the organic cheese comes from three local organic herds,
one of which is a herd of Shorthorn cows. Their milk
is very different and more yellow in colour than that
of Friesian Holsteins. The result of this special organic
blend is delicious. Whilst the same recipe and technique
is used for the organic cheddar as for West Country
Cheddar, the texture and flavour is quite unique.
Denhay Farms, which is set in 1,750 acres and has a
thousand cows in five herds, and supplies Waitrose with
the cheese for their own label West Country Farmhouse
Cheddar.
