Denhay’s challenge to find a recipe for the Ultimate Denhay Bacon Sandwich

Denhay Farms is challenging the West Country to find the best recipe for The Ultimate Denhay Bacon Sandwich. When the weather turns nippy, the mornings are dark, and the news is gloomy – a Bacon Sandwich is as comforting as mashed potato and much quicker to make!

As multi award winning producers of traditional Dry Cured bacon, Denhay serves bacon sandwiches at many events throughout the year and the search is now on for the very best example of the West Country version of the bacon buttie!

Anyone who loves the comforting, affordable and irresistible flavours of a great bacon sandwich is invited to send in their recipes to Ellen who has been nominated as the chief bacon sandwich researcher! ellens@denhay.co.uk

The idea came to us when we were serving bacon sandwiches at a recent event during Dorset Food Week – we served our Denhay Bacon in bread made by Leakers bakery of Bridport and loads of people commented on the combination of great bread and our Denhay Dry Cured Bacon. We started to ask – what would be your Ultimate Bacon Sandwich and immediately people were arguing about sauce or no sauce, white bread or rolls, butter or not! So here it is, the gloves are off, the challenge is set – what is the Ultimate Denhay Bacon Sandwich?” said George Streatfeild, MD of Denhay Farms.

From Cornwall through Devon, into Dorset and Somerset, Denhay will welcome recipes using artisan baked bread or simple white sliced, and the winning recipe will be served up during Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2009. The winner will also receive a case of Denhay Bacon so that they can enjoy the ultimate comfort food and their own recipe for The Ultimate Denhay Bacon Sandwich!
