Denhay
Bacon - Heston Blumenthal chooses it for Little Chef
24th
January 2009
Denhay
Bacon has been chosen by one of the Country’s
leading chefs as part of a trial being undertaken to
re-vamp the menu for the Little Chef chain of restaurants.
Heston Blumenthal, who is famous for his ingenuity when
it comes to food, tasted plenty of bacon before he decided
on Denhay’s Wiltshire Cure for his trial menu
at Little Chef. Denhay’s Wiltshire Cure
is a new addition to the Denhay bacon range and one
which is proving popular with Little Chef customers
at Popham Services on the A303 at Winchester.
“It
was amazing to see people eating Denhay bacon when I
went to the opening day of the re-vamped Little Chef
at Popham,” said Ellen Streatfeild, who is
the daughter of George Streatfeild, MD of Denhay Farms.
“The Little Chef was serving great big Bacon
Butties with two rashers of our Wiltshire Cure back
bacon and three crispy rashers of streaky – so
the bacon was really bursting out! Not a skimpy
little sandwich at all, but a proper job”.
As well
as Popham Services, Denhay Bacon is now being served
at Little Chefs in Gateshead and Scotch Corner and it
is hoped that Denhay will be available more widely in
Little Chefs around the UK soon.
Denhay
Bacon is available throughout the West Country from
selected Tesco, Waitrose, Co-op, Budgens, good independent
retailers, farm shops and delis.
