Denhay Today

Denhay Farm is based in West Dorset in the mild climate of the Marshwood Vale, three miles from the sea immediately inland from Lyme Bay. An average rainfall of 36 inches and a heavy clay soil produces ideal grass growing conditions, perfect for cows. We have five herds and use only their milk to make our West Country Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese.

Although we no longer farm pigs, having developed the craft of curing the finest bacon, we continue to produce dry cured bacon using only pork from outdoor reared or bred British herds.

As farmers, we value the animals in our care and our surrounding environment. We are passionate about the quality and consistency of our products and this quality has been recognised by all the UK’s top food awards.

Denhay Farms has:

  • Been awarded a Royal Warrant
  • Freedom Foods accreditation
  • British Farm Assured accreditation for our cows
  • Membership of both LEAF* and FWAG**
  • ISO14001

In recognition of how we farm, our traditional approach and high standards of animal husbandry and environmental care, Denhay Farms was awarded the Royal Agricultural Society of England’s Award for Excellence in Practical Farming in 2002.
